PRIZES AND RULES

What’s going to happen

A range of top prizes will be awarded to the best submissions: including a brand new iPad, hundreds of pounds of shopping vouchers and an Insight Day with a Sustainability Manager.

Digital badges will be available to all participants.

The Grand Prize for Individual Student Entries

The Grand Prize for the Individual Student Entries will be awarded to the Best Submission for Individual Student Entries. The Grand Prize winner could be in any of the three themes and in any of the four submission types (short film, media article, virtual poster, flash fiction).
The Grand Prize for the Individual Entries will be an ipad, an Invitation to an Insight Day with a Sustainability Manager and a feature article on the website.

The Grand Prize and the Runner Up Prize for School Groups

The Grand Prize for the Group Entries will be awarded to the Best Submission for School Group Entries. The Grand Prize winner could be in any of the three themes and in any of the four submission types (short film, media article, virtual poster, flash fiction).
The Grand Prize for the Group Entries will be vouchers (£200), an Invitation to an Insight Day with a Sustainability Manager and a feature article on the website.
The Runner Up for the School Group Entries will be vouchers (£100).

The Grand Prize and the Runner Up Prize for Multidisciplinary Groups

The Grand Prize for the Multidisciplinary Group Entries will be awarded to the Best Submission for Multidisciplinary Group Entries. The Grand Prize winner could be in any of the three themes and in any of the four submission types (short film, media article, virtual poster, flash fiction).
The Grand Prize for the Multidisciplinary Groups will be vouchers (£200), an Invitation to an Insight Day with a Sustainability Manager and a feature article on the website.
The Runner Up for the Multidisciplinary Group Entries will be vouchers (£100).

The Grand Prize for Individual Staff Entries

The Grand Prize for the Individual Staff Entries will be awarded to the Best Submission for Individual Staff Entries. The Grand Prize winner could be in any of the three themes and in any of the four submission types (short film, media article, virtual poster, flash fiction).

The Grand Prize for the Individual Staff Entries will be a feature article on the University website, an Invitation to an Insight Day with a Sustainability Manager and a Certificate of Achievement.

Recognition of Participation

All submissions will be eligible to generate a Digital Badge as a recognition of their participation.

Publication of Prize Winners and Runners Up

All winners and runners-up will be published on the competition website alongside their submissions.

Competition Rules

“Let’s go to the cop” aims to stimulate conversation, engagement and collaboration across the university community around the critical, shared, international agenda of climate change.
All staff and students are eligible to participate as follows:

  • Students: Individual, School Group and Multidisciplinary Group submissions.
  • School Groups and Multi Disciplinary Groups must have a minimum of 4 members and a maximum of 8 members.
  • School Groups should be composed of students from the same University School eg Health and Life Science (HLS), Economics, Finance and Accounting (EFA), Energy, Construction and Environment (ECE) etc.
  • Student Multi Disciplinary Groups must be composed of students from at least two different Schools.
  • Staff: Individual staff submissions only.
  • Competition organisers will not participate in the competition.

Judging Procedure

Submissions must be made via the links on the “Lets Go To The Cop” competition website.
All submissions must be received through the competition website by the deadline: 12 noon Monday 22nd of November.

Judging Criteria

The Judging Criteria to be adopted is:

  • Message: A clear and compelling message that is consistent with Theme 1, 2 or 3 and draws on scientific evidence (25%)
  • Originality of message delivery: An element of originality in presentation of the climate change message (25%)
  • Solution focus: demonstration of leadership by offering an alternative solution to society, organisations and economies (25%)
  • Overall quality: (25%)

Final Note

The decisions of the judges are final and no discussion will be entered into. Cash alternatives to prizes will not be offered.
